Hi, I’m April Dyer! M.ED., LPC-Associate

Supervised by Meredith Ivey LPC-S, RPT-S, CCPT-S

Hello, I’m April Dyer- a counselor dedicated to helping children and families find hope, healing, and resilience. Before becoming a counselor, I spent over 14 years in education, where I developed a deep understanding of the social, emotional, and developmental challenges that children and parents face.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Child Development and Family Studies, and a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My clinical experience includes working with children and families navigating foster care, adoption, blended family transitions, and grief. As an adoptive parent, I bring both professional expertise and personal insight to my work with families.

I have received specialized training in child-centered play therapy through the University of North Texas’ Center for Play Therapy, as well as in sand tray therapy. These evidence-based approaches form the foundation of my practice, supporting children in expressing and processing emotions through play and strengthening relationships within their families.

Outside of my practice, I volunteer at a local bereavement center, supporting adults who are grieving the loss of a spouse while helping their children process their own experiences of grief. This work has deepened my compassion and strengthened my ability to provide meaningful support during life’s most difficult seasons.

I view the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative process. My goal is to help individuals and families align with who God created them to be and to equip them to thrive in every season of life.
